About Caroline

Caroline Bright is running to represent Franklin-1 because this place isn’t just where she lives- it’s home in the deepest sense of the word.

Caroline lives in Georgia, Vermont, in the same house her great-grandparents bought over 100 years ago. Her parents brought her home there straight from the hospital. Today, she’s raising her own children in that same house- alongside her husband, Joel, and their three young kids.

She’s running because too many Vermonters are being priced out of the communities they love—and she believes we can do better.

Rooted in Vermont. Working for Vermont.

Caroline’s life and work have always centered on people, community, and showing up when it matters.

She is:

  • A Unitarian Universalist minister, trained to support people through life’s hardest and most meaningful moments

  • A flight attendant of over a decade, serving and caring for others in high-pressure environments

  • A small business owner, building a community-centered play space for families

  • A Local Childcare Consultant, helping families navigate childcare and cultural exchange

  • A mom of three young children, living the daily reality of childcare costs, housing pressure, and working parent life

She’s also a military spouse. Her husband, Joel, is currently serving as an officer with the Vermont Army National Guard. He previously served for 15 years as a Philadelphia police officer and now works as a Franklin County Deputy State’s Attorney.

Caroline understands what it means to juggle work, family, service, and uncertainty—because she’s doing it every day.

Why She’s Running

Caroline is running because the Vermont she grew up in is getting harder to stay in—and harder to come home to.

She believes:

  • Young families should be able to afford to live here

  • People who grew up here should be able to come home and build a life

  • Communities should have the support they need to thrive—not just get by

She’s especially focused on:

  • Affordability and cost of living

  • Childcare access and support for families

  • Housing that works for real Vermonters

  • Strong, connected local communities

A Different Kind of Candidate

Caroline didn’t come up through party politics—and that’s part of what makes her different.

She’s someone who:

  • Knows how to listen first

  • Isn’t afraid to ask hard questions

  • Believes leadership should be practical, grounded, and accountable

  • Understands that real life is messy—and policy needs to reflect that

She’s not running to be a career politician.
She’s running to do the work—and to do it well.

Looking Ahead

Caroline’s vision is simple:

A Vermont where we can afford to thrive—and where more people can come home.
